This view of the Lower Umpqua in Oregon is of the area near Reedsport and the Pacific
Ocean and is where the water becomes deep and effected by the ocean tides. It is in an area of steep mountains and forest which send shadows across the water. There is always a feeling of mystery as if there are long lost memories from the past in the deeps.
The shadows contrast sharply with the sunlit areas and the light is magical. I have
painted it in many moods and it still fascinates me.
